Acting and performing in front of the camera requires a unique set of skills and techniques. Designed for students who want to develop their audition skills and who are new to being on-camera, this class covers all aspects of acting for the camera: from auditions to the realities of performing on a set. Students learn the art of single-camera acting techniques while using the newest sides from commercials, sitcoms, and film.

Our popular acting class for young performers offers a fun and challenging approach to learning the basic skills required for acting. This fun-filled introduction to the world of stage uses improvisation, games, and other creative devices to teach the fundamentals of acting, mime, and the language of theater. The grand finale is a demonstration of improvisations for parents, relatives, and friends.

Monologues and the Art of an Audition (ages 10-17)

Come to this class to learn single- and dual-person scenes, and leave with monologues that you can use at your next audition! For students with prior acting experience in either our beginning acting classes or in a play or musical, this class is taught by an accomplished professional actor from San Diego. Students will learn various audition and performance techniques as well as two-person and group scene work. The culmination of the class will be a performance of student’s prepared pieces for family and friends.
One Act play: The Apple! (ages 10-17)

Location: Dance North County, Encinitas
A performance-based class, students rehearse and ultimately perform, The Apple, a comic one-act play. Students will audition for the many parts, rehearse, and ultimately perform The Apple for invited guests and family. Students will also be responsible for the many aspects of putting on a play, e.g., making props, set design, and creating costumes from everyday clothing.
This class is best when combined with the monologue and audition class. Students should have some previous class or stage experience.
(Please note there are discounts available for taking more than one class at the same time and for more than one student from the same family.)
Broadway Song and Dance (ages 10-17)

Taught by professional musical theatre performer, Shirley Giltner, this class focuses on the basics of Broadway-style hoofing and singing. Drawing from Broadway hits of the past and present, this fun, fast-paced class helps students learn the basic dance patterns used on the Broadway stage, as well as vocal techniques that bring out thebest in each student. This is a real confidence-builder for all would-be performers! Students strut their stuff for invited guests on the last day of class.

Here is your child’s chance to shine! Our voice class teaches young singers the fundamentals of proper singing technique. Regardless of the song, the basics stay the same. Let us encourage and develop your budding singer as they learn to bring-out their creative and musical talents through song. All students learn solo songs as well as group numbers. We give them the knowledge to know how to succeed and sing!

Creative Dance - Beginning Ballet (ages 3-5)

Start your youngster off with a joyful introduction to dance and creative expression! Stretching, dance games, use of props, songs, and dance fundamentals are taught in a creative and energetic atmosphere. This class is all about teaching your young dancers the basics of dance while having a lot of fun! Fundamentals of ballet also are introduced to up-and–coming dancers.
*Children should be toilet-trained and developmentally ready to participate in a group in order to enroll.
Voice Class - Ages 8-12 yrs

Give your young singers the start they deserve. Students learn to sing on their own and in groups by learning some of the best Broadway musicals! Fun and encouraging support is given to help these young singers grow and develop.

The Best of Broadway Workshops are designed to stimulate growth in theatrical arts for all ages and theatrical experience.
We present a Spring Workshop for younger students, ages 10-17. This is a one week, intense, workshop that gives the students a chance to have fun, learn about theater, dance and singing. The workshop is designed to bring out the most in the students.
